My next encounter with a Reading T-1 wouldn't be until 1979. The Chessie System was operating its Chessie Steam Special throughout the northeast and I got out a few times to see it. T-1 No. 2101 (a T-1 the Reading had saved but never used on the Rambles) had the honors of pulling the train, but painted in the Chessie corporate colors it just wasn't the same. (Side note: The Chessie colors are my all-time favorite diesel colors, but when affixed to a steam locomotive it's a little disconcerting...)

Thanks to Christopher Bost for getting some of my fuzzy T-1 history squared away.
